as a history major i have learned one thing. and that is that every group, at least in the united states, that was oppressed since 1781 has eventually gotten their rights written down on paper. granted the government may not be enthusiastic about enforcing them, but at least they are there. i truly believe that it is merely a matter of time before gay men and women are allowed to live their lives the way they wish to. the conservatives may not like it but in my opinion frankly that's just too bad. as jews we know all too well the horror of discrimination. we should not be doing it to other's simply on a basis of something that truly is no one's business but their own. a quote my father told me is helpful to this issue in my opinion and can relate to everyone: "when you discriminate against others, eventually they'll come around to you"
