I have been teaching for over 100 years (or so it seems) and every fall is the same. It takes a while for the kids to settle. I HATE my class this year. I am living on Advil because they never shut up. I have no clue what they know or don't know because I can't get anything out of them.

As far as Alex goes. He will get used to you being around only part of the time. You know how Jenn is - when she was three she informed me in the car on the way to day care and work - "when I grow up I'm going to be a mom who stays home and takes care of my kids". Now as an adult we know that will never happen. Just suck it up for a little while and it will get better. Really.
