I HAVE TO SAY that I have already made some really great how-did-I-miss-this discoveries from this post?? Like specifically the Younha song that you picked and Lim Kim's Goodbye 20, (which I should have listened to bc I liked All Right a lot!) are SO GOOD. AOA has had a p decent run of singles (I feel like that sentence makes them sound better than they are tho? Like, they always release songs that make me go "this is good!" but never anything that I'm super into) but they are such a terrible band. Not like, the girls themselves, but just conceptually/organizationally a mess. I don't know why I liked that History song? But I did.

OMG I WAS SO INTO IT. Like. I think it was a good song but I also think I was disproportionately into it and I still don't. Totally get why? I seriously don't think I listened to anything else in May, but I didn't have a whole lot of music-listening time in May in the first place

I haven't listened to the new younha but she's my forevet girl so I'm not surprised. all I know about aoa is that choa is cute and one of them was in a drama I watched with my parents. I love that all the comments under hanibbun/adtoy (right?) are like this song is so good <3333 and then the comments under the I norae hear this song and come back are like WHY DOES THE CHOREO SUCK. I like the falsetto in adtoy! I'm surprised I didn't notice how hard it is to sing during the perfs. but then again, they know what they're doing. I'm sure after taecyeon they'll start splitting off for the army so it's nice they had gr8 singles this year

The Kara song was weird this year! It was one of those oddballs where I was soooooooo into the verses but then the chorus kind of mess with it? Like, overall ultimately good, but.

omg the dance for that ladies code song is AMAZING, the part where the dudes stand behind them in the chorus gets me every time. and yes! i didn't like her earlier singles that much (but i liked her from when she was on shut up flower boy band) but i looooved this one so i downloaded her whole album after all.

yeah it def wasn't as good as some of their other songs but i still did like it a lot, i just think the rap-talking parts are better than the chorus (which isn't bad but is just ok). honestly it was on my list at some point but i think when i was putting them in order i deleted it and didn't realize....

News is my favorite Nine Muses song, and I do think their songs were better last year (Sweet Rendezvous is such a great mini!!!) but I still liked their singles this year to the same extent? Idk, maybe it's also because I didn't actually get into the group beyond "Oh, they have some good songs" until the beginning of 2013 (and now they're one of my top five girl groups) so I was actively following their promotions/performances this year. I like that you share Gun with me as your favorite of their songs this year!

LOL NO IT'S NOT YOU IT'S ME, I'm getting crotchtey and I was too busy for the first half of the year. Gun was good! I mean like. The initial appeal of Nine Muses is really the same as it is with Kara/Rainbow/Infinite... Sweettune, so like, I liked/happily listened to most of their stuff this year. I JUST. Ticket and News, man. I totally know what you mean about actively following their promotions though -- it does make a huge difference. I feel like with these lists (my list, anyway) there are two major cutoff points -- the first is "I cared enough about this to watch multiple performances of it" (1-4), and then "I listened to this so many times I have memories associated with listening to it/it actively recalls a specific time of year for me" (1-12). EVERYTHING ELSE IS JUST FUN.

OMG ALEX I FORGOT TO ADD SPICA'S TONIGHT.. I LOVE THAT SONG. Got me through a 5k. But that song is definitely before dream girl ahaha

Younha is sooooo good, I like the cute choreographed dance too..

I wanted so badly to like Why So Serious and Everybody but it turns out that i HATED Everybody and only mildly liked WSS, and that one grew on me. And that album was SO good. Like A Fire is probably my favorite Shinee song this year. I'm one of those fans who just wishes they wouldn't dye their hair and wouldn't wear aqua colored suits and just go back to the r&b sound though. I mean the dance for Everybody is a feat (but also kind of lolsy) and we all know Shinee is capable of that.. but I just didn't like the song and that's like 70% of the level of enjoyability for me. I hated the dubstep-esque sound. I just HATE that sound!! How about you? Did you like it?

I didn't like Tonight the first time I heard it! I'm p sure it's still on my workout playlist though so there was definitely a turnaround somewhre.

I had to go back and look up the Everybody MV because I think I only listened to it one time? I don't think I even hated it, I was just v ambivalent. I think I was madder about Why So Serious because I loved the bridge before the chorus (THIS PART) truly madly deeply but................ that wasn't the song?? I honestly think I have it queued up to that in my itunes. The only other time I've felt the need to do that is when I had SJM's My All Is In You queued up to Zhou Mi's adlibs. Idk... weird year for Shinee, I thought? Lots of high points and some lower ones. They do tend to be better when they stick to the r&b... that was a lot of why the albums were so good

oH MAN I LOVE ADTOY and like it's one of those songs that i waffled about putting so high because 2pm does not historically make Good Music but i'm a sucker for a good falsetto and that third chorus gives me chills every time, so. i actually listened to gr8u way more but it's more of a background song for me, vs. adtoy i make an effort to listen to. AND YEAH i don't actually like jay's solo music v much but joah is so good, idk if you actually watched the music video but it's basically a love letter to seattle and just hearing the opening chords makes me all n_n. i kind of cheated with the lim kim song though, i was going through the wikipedia list of kpop songs released in 2013 to make sure i wasn't forgetting anything and looked that one up on a whim and IMMEDIATELY fell in love but i hadn't actually heard it before i made my list lmao

And usually I like them and know that they're shit (please don't ask me about how much I love I'll Be Back bc like, why, Alexandra, why) but this was sort of confusing because... I thought it was actually really good?? But how can a person who actually likes shitty 2PM songs ever be sure that that's true.
