Pretty Girl and New Art

I swore I wasn't going to spend more money on my daughter this month... she made out like a bandit at Setsucon this past month and now she managed to con this out of me.... *sigh* I'm a push over. (These are thumbnails - click each to see a larger image)

Wow, I've never owned a gown that fancy. Hope she's the belle of the ball!

For the money it's going to cost me, I hope so too! LOL!

That is a gorgeous gown. I'm jealous. Your daughter is gorgeous, too. Really jealous. :D

Lovely art, as always! I particularly like the color piece, with his hand resting on her arm. I like his hand specifically; that raised finger makes me think he's just settling his arm around her shoulders.

Well, I certainly think the girl is gorgeous, but then, I'm pretty biased. LOL!

The funny thing was, I wasn't looking to get a prom gown, I was just humoring her to go in and look. She wanted something that looked like the character from Frozen (I haven't seen it yet, but I have seen lots of pictures of the character) and I picked it out from the rack very first thing. I thought the size would be too small, but it fit her perfectly, first try, without even needing alteration. I would say it was fate, but maybe that's too strong - more likely just exceptionally good marketing and a little chance. ;)

Thanks for the compliment on the art too. I think it took me all of a week - which is crazy fast of for me. I've got Illustrator's new version for a free month's trial so I am trying to make the most of it. I don't know how much of a following this show has anymore, but I always liked it and they finally finished translating the manga I was following so I felt like it needed some tribute. I'm glad you approve. :D

I just like it 'cause it's BLUE. I like blue clothes. :D My BFF says my aura is mostly blue, so.

I enjoyed Frozen, for the most part, though I didn't think it was as original and interesting as other Pixar movies. I also had a problem that the female characters looked too much like Rapunzel. Of course, I'm still disappointed that pen and ink animation is vanishing from Disney's repertoire, after how gorgeous Lilo and Stitch was, and still is.

You're very welcome! It's a lovely, lovely piece.

I SO know what you mean... Pen and ink look SO much better! I am reading this manga called "Kingdom" which I LOVE to death, but the anime they made of it (at least season 1) using CGI - now I can handle CGI backgrounds, especially for a battle series with the need to create multitudes of warriors for battles and such, but they were CGIing the main character too! In fact, half the time he was CGI, half the time he was hand drawn and it was GLARINGLY obvious. They've kept very close to the manga in the storyline, but with this horrible animation, I can't even watch it! I just saw they did a second season and I am considering watching that. I haven't seen any glaringly obvious CGI in the frames I've looked at so I am hopeful, but it really is an alarming trend.

So did she! Much to the dismay of my pocketbook.

And thank you for that. It's such an old anime that I doubt it has much of a following anymore, but I've always liked it and wanted to do something for it. It also only took me a week - which I think is some kind of record for me. LOL!

I've still get a while to go on my free Illustrator trial and I am going to try to make the most of it. Hopefully I don't burn myself out before it runs out. :)

Oh I bet

I started to watch it recently but didn't get far (more because of time crunches than disinterest) so I don't know much about it.

oh cool, here's hoping not to the burn out

It's actually a good story - I think it started as a book, then got turned into a manga and then an anime last of all. I was introduced to it first from the anime and then I read the manga and so forth. The manga just finished it's 3rd series and I think it's probably ended there. They did a wonderful job on it but it seems like the heyday of its popularity was back in the early 2000's - and back then I was more into hobbits. ;) I started reading the manga a couple of years ago and they just finished up the 'Sigma' series (the best one so far, IMHO) this past year - the translation of the final chapter showed up late in January. Maybe I'm just a hopeless devotee of the obscure and forgotten, but I liked this series a lot and can definitely recommend it.

Yeap - that's the intention. Her boyfriend's in CA though so she might be having to go stag - but at least she'll look good doing it. Thanks for commenting!
