Accomodations in Boston area?

I have the opportunity to attend a conference in Boston (well, at MIT) and I'm looking for a place to stay on the nights of November 15th and 16th, which is very last minute. Boston is always tough, with fewer hotel rooms in relation to visitors than NYC, and none of the hotel/travel sites have shown any availability under $200, which is way out ( Read more... )

I've stayed at the John Jeffries House a few times for work and always had lovely experiences. The breakfast isn't much to speak of, but it's clean and quaint and very convenient to transportation etc.

Wow, what a great place to know about! Unfortunately, the're booked up at this late date, but I'll remember the option for the future.

That's odd, that there are so few rooms available. After all, The Game (Harvard-Yale 11/17) is in New Haven this year.

Will you have a car? There are lots of cheaper places 6-10 miles outside town, such as the Hilton Garden Inn Waltham ($99) and Hilton Garden Burlington ($129.) ISTR that you don't have a car, though...

No car, so I already ruled those places out, and there's a conference at MIT, right before a holiday, at the last minute -- I expected it to be tough.

Read via frederic's LJ: The Hawthorn Suites Arlington, MA shows availability for this weekend @ $159/night. You can walk ~15 minutes to Davis Square and then hop on the Red Line T to get to MIT (4 stops). The area near the hotel is reasonably safe, and it's right on Mass Ave. (major Cambridge thoroughfare) so taxis can get there easily. There are also 2 buslines running along Mass Ave. that get you to the Red Line at Harvard.

Very close to Alewife T-stop (end of the Red Line, 5 stops up from MIT/Kendall T station) either by walking or their free shuttle is the Gateway Inn.
