[ Sometime later today, say about noon or one in the afternoon, Hei will come stumbling out of House 35. He woke up in Shuri's closet, but that's not terribly important. What is important is that he's a.) stumbling and staggering a bit (as said before), b.) wearing a mask and coat (now featured in icon), and c.) smells of alcohol ( Read more... )

[Whoa.

Throwing a bunch of things on the floor like that? So not cool. Wasn't the sudden influx of monsters enough? No - there had to be some masked menace befouling the streets and bringing destruction and disorder to the once-peaceful aisles of the friendly neighborhood grocery store.

How could you, Hei? How could you?]

You there! Just what do you think you're doing?

[ As Hei looks down as stares at the devastation (and mess) he brought to an innocent watermelon, he wonders to himself where exactly that violent impulse came from. But he doesn't dwell on it too long before he's off to reach for another one.

Or so he thought!

Before he can properly grab and toss, he hears the distant voice of someone off to his side. It's an unfamiliar voice to him, unlike the one he'd heard earlier in the day, so he narrows his eyes. Which is, uh, kind of hard to see with the mask on.

Hei turns his head to Tsubaki, glaring behind the mask, and then turns away from her. Will she be able to stop him from committing another fruit to the grave?! ]

[It's a race against time, but Tsubaki shall emerge victorious! She can't just let this miscarriage of justice unfold before her very eyes. Things may have been different if he'd been bringing devastation to a panda or something, but fruit? Not on her watch!

And so, with this most heroic of mindsets and a mighty stride, she darts between Hei and the defenseless fruit display and stands up tall, hands on hips.]

I asked you a question.

[ Oh valiant young heroine, how will thee fare when faced with such an uncaring foe? Whose a mask of pearly white doth shine beneath the light, such a contrast to his evil............ might.

With tilted noggin and penetrating gaze, this villain doth turn to meet the heroine's oculars. He says nothing, he only stands still, watermelon in hand. ]

[Is that a threat? It had better not be a threat, because if it is...

...

It had just better not be, okay?]

Is something wrong? I think you'd better start showing some common courtesy before someone gets hurt. [Someone could slip on this stuff, you know? Or just get it on their designer shoes. Then you'd be sorry! Oh Hei, what hast thou donst?]

[ Though not a threat, fairest of maid, indeed it be an act. An act of aggression, with such subtle implications that it may have indeed been lost had it not been for the maid's keenest of insights. With muscles taught and a body on the verge of action Hei continues his stare.

His mask, through a downturned head, tells every inch of his expression. That of shadows and darkness and what may even be a menacing grin. Though, it should be said that that grin is not Hei's intent. It is merely a trick of the light, and of the mask. ] No.

[Intent may be nine-tenths of the law, but that grin seems to say it all. And more than anything else, right now it's saying that Hei needs a royal ass-kicking.

Though Tsubaki would probably slip and fall on her own ass if she tried, thanks to all this fruit pulp. And maybe he's a little intimidating, too. Just... you know. A little. But not enough to make her voice shake.]

What do you mean by that? You're not the only one in this village, you know. You have no right to act as though you own the place.

... [ Maybe if he were acting as Li, this exchange would be different. Maybe if he felt like his normal self, this would be different. But he didn't. He felt... angrier. More aggressive. He felt like finding answers. Finding a way out of here, and finding Bai.

He felt like talking to Amber and getting the answers that were stolen from him before. It was just too bad those weren't things he could do, and every time he remembered that he grit his teeth in frustration.

He wanted to see Amber. He wanted to see Bai. There was that part of him that needed to know what happened, and the more time he spent in Luceti, the more he knew he wouldn't get his answers. He'd already waited so long, and when he finally caught up to Amber, here he was. Ripped away from the truth. Hei made a fist. :|

Was that why he was so angry? He recognized that as an explanation, but there was more to it. He was just a little fuzzy on what that "more" was right now. ] What about you?

[Ohhhh snap. That actually stuns Tsubaki speechless. Was she out of line too?

No. No, of course not. She wasn't doing this because she wanted to (okay maybe a little) but because she had a responsibility to the townsfolk. Yeah, that's it. She had taken it upon herself to ensure the preservation of order in Luceti wherever possible, and Hei was a threat to that order - nay, a scourge that needed to be cleansed (possibly even in the fires of destruction). She makes a fist of her own.

Let's dance.] Someone needs to make sure things don't get out of hand.

That's not something you can judge. [ She hadn't had Hei's full attention. He'd been lost somewhere in his thoughts, in his haze, and his unnatural anger at these watermelons. But now it was different.

Hei carelessly dropped the watermelon somewhere to his side. Either it'd fall to the ground, or it'd fall back into the bin. Hei didn't care which it was. He completely turned to face Tsubaki, waiting for her next comment. ]

[He just... let it fall. So casually.

As if it meant nothing to him.

...It just tears Tsubaki apart!] I'm in a much better position to judge than you are.

[ If it's possible, that mask darkens! Shadows and all that.

Hei's quiet for a few seconds. There's something dangerously hostile about his next question. ] Is that what you really think?

[She's not scared of you, Hei! You and your ever-darkening mask can try all you want, but she's staying only mildly terrified and there's nothing you can do to change that. She looks him dead in the... mask, and her tone becomes almost challenging.] I wouldn't have said it if it wasn't.
