QUESTIONS there will be more hangedsword December 28 2010, 03:26:28 UTC
1. So if shit hadn't gone to hell ICly, everyone would still be alive on the Golden Shore? Like the dropped characters and everything? (Am I making sense, idk).

2. What is up with Ponk, man. Did it start out as a typo and just became an in-game thing or what.

3. What caused the Carnival and Spectacular Spectacular to be magical-rooms-of-crazy-and-death?

4. So, what happened to the infected characters below decks, the ones in the tanks and stuff? Were they poor saps saved by Redd who were infected when he picked them up or what?

I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING EVER HRRRGH im sorry

1. You are making sense, but dropped characters wouldn't have been there. The crew weren't lying when they said dropped characters went back to their worlds. Unfortunately the End snatched them up and murdered them all to leave them on the Shore as a last "ha ha fuck you" to Redd.

2. One of the mods was in hospital and the handwriting on the menu board was really bad, so "pork" was "ponk". We ran with it.

3. A lot of the characters in Carnival were old crew members who went crazy, and the End infected that part of the ship (Redd was keeping a box in there). Jennifer was a passenger who was infected with the End but she was relatively in control, so Redd kept her locked up just in case she could be helpful later on.

4. They were infected when Redd picked them up, so he put them in a big meat grinder and used them to power the ship! Yaaaaay!

During one of the mutinies the passengers found a tank filled with blue gunk and bodies. Who were they and why were they in there?

What happened to the people in Carnival (the Counselor, Xamira, etc.) that caused them to be put there in the first place?

Why was deck nineteen locked off?

Just what exactly was the blue stuff Redd used on the crew and against The End? Also what did those treatments that the crew had to go through do to them?

Experiment subjects who were being subdued with the blue stuff, mostly agents. They had either refused Redd's offer or seemed to be useful for his tests.

They went crazy! Carnival used to be a lovely place but it became corrupted by the End and they went crazy and were locked in there. In the end they became a kind of guard for the box in there.

Because we never finished making that deck and decided to skip one just to fuck with y'all. 8D

The blue stuff is Redd's "antidote" to the End's infection (because blue is the opposite of red derp) and he had to treat the crew to stop them from getting out of control and to calm their homicidal urges.

For deck nineteen, I took on a rather ambitious plan.

The deck was going to be sort of like the maze deck but it would be a series of rooms. To get the door to open to another room, you would have to answer the riddle on the wall.

To this end, I was going to make a simulated HTML version and had a lot of the work started but...yeah it was too much work and very difficult to find the right sort of riddles and yeeeah.

I think initially I begged the other mods to leave 19 untouched so I could finish my project and it just...never happened. >_>;;

Seriously, finding a riddle for all four walls of over a hundred rooms? I was clearly insane. :|a

Would it have ended differently if they had successfully steered the boat with their vocals away from the transdimensional thingamajig?

By extension, it was mentioned a while ago that the boat has managed to avoid humongous disaster at least once because of our actions, and we'll never know why~ Well, can I get a brief summery of what kind of disasters were averted? Or, y'know, however you can convey the knowledge easiest. Or if not, then I can live with the curiosity.

Yes, they would have been stranded in space and starved to death! 8D

Oh my goodness. You might have to be a bit more specific, I'm a bit derpy right now and I'll have to go away and think about it if you can't think of anything in particular.

...good to know.

Um, well... I suppose a one sentence answer like the above for any time the ship's route was drastically changed thanks to passenger intervention. Or, if there's a lot of them, then... well, nevermind then, unless you want to put them all up :|a

Largely, the plot was very flexible. There was a strong framework written up and some mythical behind the scenes info written by P, and then we mostly worked with it to fill in the gaps as we went along. If we saw passengers taking a particular interest in something, we'd make an event for it. If things got dull, we'd liven it up. If things were too happy, we'd kill a few hundred people ( ... )

What was the box that the crew members were so obsessed with? (If this was answered ICly earlier, I'm sorry. I've missed a lot of things with crazy holiday retail rush. ;A;)

The red boxes contained little pieces of the End.

They were infected with the End themselves and it just...it felt so good. It was like a drug to them and they were addicts?

The boxes were also their major tools. They'd open them in populated areas and such to affect the people...to soften them up so that the End could devour the world more easily.

Alfkajsdfalk and Redd brought a piece of it onto the boat?! :O IS HE CRAZY?!

Oh. Wait. :3;

(But why did he want a piece of it?)

Why yes, yes he is 8D

It was powerful enough to give energy to the boat to keep it going.

Besides, it's sort of poetic that Redd uses a piece of his enemy to ferry survivors to a safe haven...

OOC question: In regards to the above, what ICly fucked up that fucked up the shore?

IC question: WHAT WAS GONNA BE ON DECK 19, MISS METH!?

SEE HERE, REMY

The deck itself would have had a lot of interesting artwork on the walls, and all sorts of goodies and things that Meth would have stolen from the passengers to make them even choose to go into the deck.

There was a plan for them to take portable red buttons to push if they got lost but...yeah.

It was awesome in theory to me but way way way too ambitious to try and pull off a simulated version, derp.

To show you how ridiculous I was getting with this...

This is how it would look to all of you...

Or this version, which shows where the doors are so you could see which rooms they'd actually lead into if you were going North or South...

This shows the doors plus the path layout...aaaand yeah.

The original inspiration was actually this site here which I love to pieces. I had originally debated making a way for people to have to find the hidden latches or right things to press in artwork like you do with the flash game/puzzle but that was even more ambitious, fffff.
