first images of extrasolar planets!
This is incredible.
These aren't "artist conceptions" but actual photos of other solar systems. One is just 25 light years away. None of the planets are habitable, of course -- they're all gas giants larger than Jupiter, but this is just the beginning.

ABC and NBC have already called Pennsylvania for Obama.
No states have flipped from 2004 yet. For Obama to win, he has to flip one medium-sized state or a couple of smaller ones. (Which is why it's bugged me when pundits sound so surprised he's gone on offense in so many red states.) -

I gave blood around noon. Now I can't stay awake. This 71 page bill consolidating a city and county governments isn't helping. -

why I voted for Obama
I had planned on writing up this brilliant essay worthy of publication in a respected newspaper (or at least the AJC), but instead I pounded this out in the last half hour or so. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go to my second job so I can afford to feed my dog.
