Memorial Service

Yesterday was the large memorial service for both officers. For photographs and news stories see ajc.com or myfoxatlanta.com. It was an amazing sight. There were some things I really appreciated and some things I found to be...distracting, I suppose. I'll go through it all ( Read more... )

*hugs* I can only imagine how painful this must be for you. We lost an officer in our department in not nearly as bad circumstances, and we didn't know him very well, and it was still upsetting. I can't imagine how much this must hurt. You are in our prayers.

thanks for the entry! a really memorable experience. again, my love and sympathy to all who suffer because of this. the radio traffic gave me chills, too. hope you and all your colleagues will be extra-careful. Thank you all for what you do for us!

I'm sitting here at my desk with tears seeping from my eyes. That was a heartfelt and lovely account of such terrible circumstances. I'm glad the officers were honored like that, however.

In Boston, police funerals are parades on foot. They have tons of bagpipers. It's very different, but still just so sad.

We only had a single set of bagpipes, playing while the coffins were being brought out to the hearse. They're very mournful, and it definitely added to the atmosphere.
