I, naturally, have been riding my bike to work every day. It's about a 25 minute ride from my place to union square, and, even with dealing with traffic on delancey and 1st ave, not a terrible ride. If NYC is anything like Chicago, anything not physically locked, bolted down or chained tightly is fair game to anyone walking by.

There is a local homeless guy who has a shopping cart decorated with all sorts of odds and ends. One has to wonder how much of that was junk-picked and what he just "picked up" laying around "free" like your helmet.

yes, but it wasn't just hanging out on the street for anyone to take. It was inside a building behind doors that only open from the inside and that few people have access too. So i wasn't just leaving it out in the open for anyone to take.
