The best news from yesterday was not my news, but that of a man who has been in prison for seventeen years, after being convicted of a murder he did not commit. Several of my friends are involved in various animal rescue operations, both here in the US and in Canada. I applaud their efforts, and the rescue animals I've met have all been great.

In thinking of them, I've thought of my first dog, Frisky. I don't think I've told you the story of Frisky, a dog rescued before the term was ever used. ( The rest of the story )

When I was watching a year-end report on CBS on Sunday I learned that Arthur Ferrante, half of Ferrante and Teicher, had died in September. Lou Teicher died in 2008.
