We've been fine with an ordinary (large) one but recently an un-neutered boy from a couple of streets away has been coming in and hoovering up all their food. I sent him home with a note round his neck last week, thinking that I would adopt him if nobody owned up to him, as the girls seem to tolerate him - that is, they just sit there watching him scoff their dinners, and he's an endearing little chap. But his owner called back. ("Oh, but it's cruel to cats to neuter them...") Grr. And she went on to tell me of all the wandering he does, and how they had to pay to get him back from the RSPCA once. Get a clue for ghod's sake... Glad your cats like theirs, was it hard to get them used to it?
My cats prefer to have the door opened for them because cat flaps are undignified but both got used to it very quickly .
I think ours might be the dog size flap as we have Maine coons .
i can understand people wanting to defer neutering until the cat has reached full growth -for some breeds this has benefits -but i really can't understand why anyone wouldn't neuter and chip their cats as soon as medically appropriate. i suppose unwanted kittens are "kind". Gaah.
We looked into getting one of those but when we checked we found the chip in Mungo is too old to operate it. Yes, our cat is obsolete. (Still noisy though)
137mm wide x 142mm high. You can shove Tequila through it if you push. But she wouldn't get back in from the outside because it's too high off the ground and she'd have nothing to, well, push against. Plus it was a hard push so can't have been comfortable for her. They are bringing out a bigger version later this month, wish I'd known.

Our kitties love their microchip cat flap -but only when their butler is out.
