so it's officially official now - my hiatus from the real world is over. no more vacations, no more gallivanting off to other countries, no more recovery time from the hell that was school ( Read more... )

Welcome back we missed you! I do hope you had a lovely time. :)

What are some examples of normal reality that may be neither?

thank you, i did. :)

normal reality that is neither - well, cube land. living in boxes bathed in fluorescent lighting isn't natural. it's considered normal to go to work 9 to 5 (or some variation thereof) but how much are we really living while we're working?

government isn't as bad as the law firm i used to work for, where people were totally disconnected from their supposed personal lives - didn't realize their marriages, kids, etc etc were in trouble; balded or grayed by thirty; and most didn't even really *enjoy* the work they were doing anymore. is that normal? only within a given social construct. is that living? i hope not.

things in the office world are a bit surreal if you look at them the right way - a system that only makes sense as long as you reside within the system, and when you agree to abide by certain precepts. and sure, that exists, but does it actually resound as something *real* and true?

(does that make any sense? if not, i'll try stabbing at it again)

um, we are -so- going. which means i will get to see you at least *twice* in the next week.5, which is a pretty darned good ratio.

we can begin nefarious planning later, as your schedule permits. besides, i'm dying to try this tea you keep mentioning... tea in the fort sounds like a definite amusement at some point. maybe with scones and clotted cream/arteries?

I hope you have pictures (or can point me to them) and have stories to tell about your worldly adventures! I'd love to hear them :)

Well, I have a ridiculous number of pictures - more than 2 gigs worth from Africa alone. And that's before I've gotten picture cds/dvds from other folks who were on my journeys.

I'm hoping to post picture highlights soon, but honestly, I still've posted less than 10 from india, which was, you know, a year.5 ago. My "to do" list is also about three-thousand miles long right now. But for a sample spoon taste, I did post 3 in my livejournal gallery (http://pics.livejournal.com/elf/gallery/0000h113). Storage space on lj has grown, so hopefully I'll use that soon to post more - but really, if you have any recommendations on internet photo hosters, I'm all ears.

For stories, you'd actually have to see me or question me, 'cause I'm too frickin' lazy to write about them freestyle right now (which probably means ever, given that it's me) (plus, everybody's got their own bit they want to hear about).
