Might be leaving LJ

Dec 20, 2009 09:18

Due to LJ deciding that I should have to endure flash-based in-window popup ads to see what y'all are up to, I might be abandoning my LJ account. It's nothing against any of you - it's just that I don't see LJ as providing me with enough value to be worth the irritating Best Buy ads that pop up ( Read more... )

I'd miss you if you go!

I haven't seen any of these pop-up adds that you are talking about. Don't know why.

I was just thinking about you yesterday! Part of that may be that I'm attempting to drive to Iowa today and grateful that I don't have to go through the weather woes of Peoria! I do wish Cbus was on the way though so i could stop by and say hi (to the kittehs of course!)

I am one of the few who pay (a little) for LJ, and I don't mind doing so in order for it to be ad-free. $20 a year for how much I use it doesn't seem bad.

To me, LJ compares to Facebook like apples to salt. I can't blog on Facebook, and if I did no one would read more then two or three lines anyway.

I have Firefox with adblock and flashblock add-ons. It's great. I actually have no idea what you're talking about because I don't see a single ad.

Whoa... I just came here to comment that I had never seen any of these ads before, and that I hoped you wouldn't leave.... and then I got one! Weird...

I still hope you don't leave, though. :)

Whoah, there, Lyz!

The trouble is that you have a Plus account. This means you made a pact with the devil to get extra userpics and features without having to pay cash for them, but did so in exchange for your soul, er, uh, having to view advertising. The people that are commenting that they don't see ads are either using a Paid account or a Basic account.

You have two options to be add-free:

1. Upgrade to a Paid account. It's not that much per year.

2. Downgrade to a Basic account. It is free. You see no ads. You just are limited to 6 userpics and some of the advanced features go away. More info about it is here.
