Not reading as I want to avoid spoilers, but I look forward to the season. It will be on sale here in January and I pre-ordered when I bought the New Year's special of last year a few days ago.

The Chibnall era haven't really been filled with storytelling I enjoy, but I have liked seaons regardless and enjoyed the second season much more than season 1, and I do like the 13th doctor, so I am sad to see her go.

I hope you enjoy! Without spoiling anything, I can say that Chibnall is far better at serialised story-telling than standalones. :)

Same here. I just wish I cared about her more. But hey, she gets to be plenty Doctor-y in Flux!

I liked the villains (Blue Hordak and his sister, the Christmas tree bauble - Swarm & Azure, hey I remembered the names!), but they didn't really get to do much later on and their motivations were meh.

They made a great start but then did nothing. I had this argument with a friend about them, actually.
Her: "I love them, they're great!"
Me: "But what are they DOING?"
Nothing much as it turns out!

Was very happy to see Tecteun again, less happy that she was immediately killed off.

I knowwwwww. I couldn't believe Chibnall killed her off so cheaply (although I don't know why I was surprised, that's been his MO with Doctor Who).

it was very engaging, but there was no emotional pay-off.

Yes, and this is the overarching issue with Chibnall Who for me. All these great characters and ideas but very little actually done with them, no follow through. Three series of Thirteen and the story's barely moved. The Simpsons GIF is spot on.

Have no particular interest in the whole Timeless Child thing, and am wondering how (and if) Chibbers is ( ... )

Accurate argument is accurate. They started off great and then just... dwindled off. Which was a shame, because they managed to act through all the make-up. All the props to the actors!

Grumble, grumble. Well IF the Doctor ever accesses her memories, then presumably she'll be back. (sigh)

Thank you. Companions should elicit this response:

Re. RTD... I keep thinking of how you once explained how RTD had broken the Doctor and then Moffat quietly went about mending him again. So now Chibnall's broken the Doctor again - or, really, more, he's broken the show - and I'm kind of hoping RTD will be able to mend it. I don't want him to ignore the Timeless Child, because it's there now, but I really would like to see him give it a point, a purpose, and actually have some kind of effect on something!

^_^ I would now add - fixed the Doctor (11th) and then did a deep dive into all his issues (12th). So Chibnall could have gone *anywhere*. Although to be fair, being 'fairly well-adjusted' is not the best thing for a main character... ;)

Promethia said how it's funny that RTD was the first one to break the show and he's now the one who has to pick up all the pieces & put it back together.

Because the Doctor's face is all 'Really?? He didn't lie?? That ( ... )

I have to say I didn’t enjoy the story as much as I thought I should. It felt like something was missing - not sure what though!

I think it's the lack of emotional pay-off? There was all this PLOT and then... it was resolved and things were okay again.

Just odd.
