It's a bit weird though: some of the entries that are crossposted show the same comments on the DW side, and others show different ones, I'm trying to figure out how it works. Are they seperate or not?

Oh, what about all the old entries and meta and masterposts, will you transfer everything?

WELL. Depends whether the LJ ones have been backed up on DW or not. When I first got DW I imported my whole LJ, and have basically crossposted since (although that is now no longer possible, thank you LJ Russian overlords). I'd import LJ sporadically, hence times when comments are [more] mirrored.

If that makes sense, it's late and I'm tired!

Huh, I've done it for years... No longer, alas, since LJ has apparently put their foot down, but it was a nice & easy way to keep two sites going. Are you on DW at all?

I am - I did use it as a backup, but apparently backing up from Lj is a bit hit and miss at the moment and as the cross-posting isn't working it's not somewhere I've been looking at going back to.

I'm just seeing if it will back up, but I'll be annoyed if Lj does go as I have a permanent package here and so I'm not giving any money to the owners (and haven't for years)... which probably means I'll be one of the first to go :(

*nods* I know someone who managed to successfully do an import last week, so clearly it IS possible, but there were a number of failed attempts to begin with, and I've not had much luck. Although everything has been mirrored for ages, it's mostly the comments I'd want to import.

Here's to hoping you'll be okay. And I really wish I'd been able to shell out for a permanent account to be honest, since all my pictures are uploaded to LJ, and I've yet to find a better option.
