* Saw Sin City the other night. Still not quite sure what i thought of it to be honest. There was quite a bit i did like in it- the production design was amazing, I loved the cinematography and whole "noir" mood they created, the special effects were really well done, and it had an awesome cast.. and yet when we left the theatre i was mostly

At least they were half naked in the movie...in the comics they were completely naked except for the odd tastefully draped bit of bondage gear. It's funny cuz the movie was an R rated film in the states.

yeah... I have to say - totally apart from the fact that my friend had obviously been a little rattled by the unexpected level of violence - that my first thought on walking out was 'holy crap, how the fuck did that manage to get itself a MA rating??'

It's funny, I think i was more shocked by Sin City than i was on my first viewing of Trainspotting- which i watched when i was 15. I can't BELIEVE that people like AFA (who ban everything they can) and some of your typical religious action groups arent making a peep but they will fight hell for leather against movies they havent even seen. How is Sin City any better than Ken Park? BAH!

All that being said, i still couldn't say yet if i liked it or not...

My thoughts exactly. Before seeing that movie i thought that 5 1/2 years working in cinemas had given me a fairly good idea from what to expect from an MA movie. Apparently not. I can't even think of an R movie i've seen that's been much more violent.. and maybe it's just me but the thought that an 8 yr old is allowed to see that movie with an older brother (i saw at least 15 or so under 12s seeing it at my cinemas over the weekend) is a little fucking scary.
