It may need more alterations than you think. The point of the alterations is that the dress is then custom-made just for YOU! Take it to a good seamstress (with at least 2 months notice before the wedding), and let her pin it properly and advise you on where it needs changing. You will look like a million bucks when it's altered to fit PERFECTLY! I can recommend a GREAT seamstress in Chapel Hill, if you need a recommendation.
Just wanted to put in my two cents. I thought my dress fit perfectly, but I looked STUNNING once it was altered in some tiny ways. Even changing the bra I wore under it changed the alterations.

Thanks for your two cents! :)
I would love to know the name of the seamstress you used as the one at a bridal world was booked until May with post Valentine Brides plus prom dresses and the David's bridal shop one would only do dresses bought at their store. Also do you know of a good place to get a bridal makeover?

Yes, Mildred at A Stitch in Time on Franklin Street. SHe's the BEST. It takes 2-3 fittings to get it just right, and you'll need to wear all the underthings you'll wear the actual day--shoes, too. It affects the fit. Stitch in Time is directly above Spring Break Travel, you just go up the stairs. I'm sure you can find her number in the phone book. Definitely ask for Mildred!
As far as makeup goes, I got a WONDERFUL makeover at Sephora. Call for an appointment (it's free). I even took in the eye shadows I know I wanted to use, and they showed me how to get a great look with them. And they helped me find the *perfect* foundation to match my skin and a truly waterproof mascara. It was GREAT! I had a few weeks to practice before the wedding. And I got some great perfume, too!

I just looked up the number for a stitch in time alterations but when I tried calling it I got a message saying the number had been disconnected. :-( Do you happen to know of any other good places to get alterations done?
