20 random facts about Gideon and Fabian Prewett
1 - Gideon was born exactly 27 minutes before Fabian. This 27 minutes seemed very important to Gideon and he never let his brother forget it, since it meant that he was the elder brother and Fabian was the baby of the family.
2 - With both of their parents working, they were often looked after by their elder sister, Molly. She was often the one who had to put up with their mischief but she was also the only one they'd listen to when it came to behaving themselves. Well, almost. Neither would ever admit to being scared of her.
3 - One of the few differences between them is a birthmark on Gideon's hip and, for a week when they were seven, a scar on Fabian's arm from falling out of a tree. Gideon later copied him so that they'd remain the same.
4 - Fabian's first girlfriend was at the age of 6 and they sat under the slide in the playground together. Following this, Gideon decided it was only right he found a girlfriend too and took to hanging around with the girl's friend.
5 - Both consider the other to be their best friend and are as close as they could possibly be. That said, they would deny any feelings of love and respect. You just don't tell your brother that and ever live it down.
6 - When Fabian was five, Gideon dared him to climb onto the roof so Fabian, never one to back down from a dare even then, did it. When he slipped on the tiles, fell off and broke his arm, Gideon was too racked with guilt to notice that his own left arm was hurting too.
7 - They've had several experiences of such a "twin connection" but its their magic where that connection really shows itself. Both are quite powerful in their own right but when they're together and able to almost feed off each other, its really very impressive. Having had it all their lives, neither thinks its all that special to be able to go from banishing something across the room to banishing your homework to the opposite end of the school just because your brother was sitting beside you for the latter.
8 - Not only are they able to strengthen their own spells, they're able to block and undo each others spells with very little effort. In fifth year, while practicing non-verbal spells, the two held a ping-pong like game, sending hexes back and forth with their shield charms while the rest of the class struggled to produce either a silent hex or shield.
9 - During their sorting, both came close to being Hufflepuffs but then chose Gryffindor because they didn't want to be separated.
10 - Fabian's patronus is his brother but if you tell anyone that, he'll hex you.
11 - They're never actually swapped identities to try and fool anyone since their personaities are so distinctive that most people would be able to guess who it was.
12 - Fabian has always been best in Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology, with Gideon doing best in History of Magic and Transfiguration. They're pretty even in all other subjects although both excelled in Defence against the Dark Arts and both found Potions too restricting to their, ah, creativity.
13 - They insult each other freely, continually putting the other down and mocking but woe betide anyone who dares to say a word against one of them. Besides, they're the only ones who know the best way to get under the others skin. The same goes for speaking against their family.
14 - Gideon was the first to be properly kissed... by ten minutes. Unlike many other things in their life, it actually was a coincidence.
15 - Gideon was also the first to lose his virginity and spent the five days it took for Fabian to catch up lording this over him and telling him he'd "be a man someday". Of course, when Gideon broke up with his girlfriend not long after, Fabian was quick to return the mocking.
16 - At the age of sixteen, they had matching scars on their backs from being royally thumped by the Whomping Willow, which had been planted that year. Neither was bothered by this since it was the closest anyone had got to the tree and they were given a hero's return to the common room that night.
17 - When the twins were seventeen, Gideon caught his brother snogging a Ravenclaw boy and felt it was only right that he try it too. Purely for research and not letting Fabian out do him and so forth. After theorising that there wasn't really any other boy he trusted to kiss, he asked Fabian. They didn't exactly have any secrets anyway. Afterwards, they had a few drinks and decided not to mention it again. Three years later they decided to also forget anything else that may have happened since.
18 - Both secretly think Arthur Weasley is a bit of an oddball but admit that he does seem to make their sister happy. They utterly adore their nephews and take great delight in being bad influences on them. Gideon credits himself with teaching Bill and Charlie to fly while Fabian is generally good with children, babies in particular, and was the first to get a smile out of Percy. Gideon says he was actually grimmacing but Fabian won't hear a word of it.

While both twins opposed what Voldemort stood for, it wasn't until the death of their father, William Prewett, a well known auror, that they realised they'd end up fighting in it. They were seventeen when he died and the family has never really been told what happened, although the twins suspect Death Eater activity and have vowed to get revenge on the people who killed him.
