Thanks, petal! I actually did have a pretty good time in the end, although I did get called a 'time-fascist' (I think it was jokingly?) at one point. Whatevs, twenty minutes per paper or GTFO, people.

Oh my god, I'm so with you re timings! It's the fair to the person going last if they have like five minutes because the first presenters couldn't be bothered to properly time their papers.

Exactly. Although, I actually got landed with four papers in a three paper panel because of travel delays, so I was paranoid about keeping to time. And I thought, 'People will want at least ten minutes for questions! This is a fascinating panel!' And then, *crickets*. An entire academic audience staring back at me in bovine fashion for the ten minutes I'd carved out for discussion. I had to come up with a bloody appalling question that tied together precisely none of the panel themes, because it's not my area. Goddammit, guys, you had one job!
