Of course it doesn't, they don't live in America ♥. While I'm relatively sure these people make a minority view in this country, the US can still be scarily conservative in a lot of ways, and this is one of them.
I shouldn't have said that "conservatives" believe this, like they're some monolithic entity that all believe the same things. It would be more accurate to say that the extreme amount of nationalism necessary to believe that "one citizen from my country is worth more than X citizens of another country" is a conservative viewpoint.
