I agree with you on the Laurell K. Hamilton thing. They are her characters and she has the right to do with them as she pleases. However, I will say that I did stop as soon as she and Jean Claude had sex for the first time. Something told me it was all downhill from there. I was glad her and Richard were over, but I was also somewhat saddened by her sudden loss of morals. And from what I hear, it apparently gets worse there. So instead of whining about it, I just stopped reading. Although, I do sort of wish I knew what was going on now.
Second... Yes, her morals have gone "bye-bye" but some of the books after "Burnt Offerings" were still good... Er... Like one. Cause "Obsidian Butterfly" has NO sex for Anita... AND it's all about Edward. *grin* But yeah, the latest books Anita has become almost cavalier about sex... She's certainly GOTTEN there one book at a time, but it's still pretty sad. :P
It's good to see that you know when to put a series down, lol. All I can say is: "Good for you!!!" :D
And it's not "whining" that bugs me really... Cause I do that all the time, it's more the absolute ~BASHING~ that gets to me. It's like, Who are THEY to be such assholes?
Eh. Anyways, thank you for sharing your two cents! ;)
My main problem with Anita Blake is that I really like the series but the last few books have been mainly sex. For every 10 pages of sex, there might be one page of plot. Not that I usually complain about sex but I don't feel that I've read a whole book because there's so little plot.
I could care less that she's screwing all of these beautiful preternatural men (who wouldn't be!) but I don't want to hear about it all of the time. I want to know what the deal with Dolph is. I want to get through an entire meeting with the Vampire councel. I want to know when she's done with Nathanial so that I can have him! *cough* I mean, um, yeah...
So it's not the way the characters have developed that's bothered me. It's the pages of sex that I don't want to read. I don't care if I know about it. I just don't want to read it.
I know you posted "Stop bashing Laurell!" but I wanted to let you know why I complain about her. It's not the characterization. It's the 'I WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT, DAMMIT!" Still love me?

And *that* wasn't "bashing." THAT was exactly how *I* feel about her books as well... The constant sex is a little tiring. LOL
*sigh* Yet, despite the sex, and the way she's seemed to soften up on the plot.... I STILL wanna know what's happening ANYWAYS.... hehe
