i have difficulty believing he intentionally told people to deface the wall. that being said, it's no worse in my eyes than the people spraying graffiti all over it. roger waters is from a different generation and it doesn't surprise me that he isn't familiar with elliott's music. i, for one, took the apology for what it's worth. it's a shame, but it is what it is.
I agree. A graffiti wall just isn't a permanent memorial, and will take on a life of its own beyond what was originally there. I don't see that as a disrespectful thing.

the "everyone else was doing it" excuse is bullshit. and while it does look like it's just some crap sticker-type-thing and i doubt it was some kind of specific target against elliott, to have such a who-gives-a-fuck attitude about it in the so-called "apology" really pisses me off, in addition to all the other people who just don't get that it's a place that actually means something to a lot of people. SIGH.
