"It's like every one of them is a little light somewhere in the world, and instead of just a single spark, there are many, and the glow in the world map of my mind shines a whole lot brighter knowing they're all a part of it."
Well said. It good to have many people in your life rather than depend on one single person to fulfil all your wishes. Nice take!
I definitely got to the point where the "best friend" concept wasn't cutting it. It was such a big deal as a kid - definitely remember the weird pressure to HAVE a best friend, but as an adult the concept changes. Thank goodness. Thanks for this entry :)
My interests sort of mandate my best friends are who I am doing things with at the time. My theater friends tend to think sports are lowbrow, my sports watching friends are often bored by the stage. My wife's family loves me unconditionally but hates my lefty politics. And the fact I don't like guns horrifies them.
But while I miss the bond of a true best friend like my late brother, having diverse friends helps avoid the echo chamber effect and keeps you thinking.
