Once again I have failed at spn_halloween. I started my story, but it refused to be written. I'm hoping that it might be finished by next Halloween. I'm so very, very sorry

OMG! I wanted this fic so bad, because when she was describing Ben's dad I was sooo muttering to myself John. Love it, Dean's just kills me with the funny-we're not gay, and the sad-following in the family business.
Oh, this definitely made me smile. It's late so I'm a little slow but my mind was spinning, trying to process what was going on and I couldn't have been more wrong. First I read "gentle" and thought it had to be Ben, then Sam's "Jesus Christ" reaction made me think of John, but no that couldn't be right (LOL). Then, it *was* Ben, so that meant Dean's son saved him (awwww) but, *wrong again!*... what an utterly delightful twist. Baby brother a fireman and coming to Dean's rescue (awwww again). Just perfect. Thank-you!
Thanks. I did think about how this would read, and I didn't want to give everything away too early on. I imagined Sam would look at Ben and see a young version of John, so you weren't too far off. I recently found an old photograph of my great great grandfather - when he was about thirty, and it was like looking back at my father when I was a kid. It made me realize how strong the genes for appearance can be. I wanted Ben to look like a younger version of John, with a little of Sam and Dean mixed in.
I think Sam recognized him as John's kid before Dean did - he was still convinced Ben was his. Baby brother Ben as a fireman was basically irresistable.

It's not too sad about the family business, honestly. They're both kind of proud of their wee brother.
