SPN gen fic - Five Postcards Dean didn't send

I was going through my supernatural fic folder tonight - trying to force the muse to work on some of my half-written stories, when I came across a fic I wrote about 15 months ago. It was for a fanzine that never happened. I've written a number of little scenes that provide the background for this fic, but I've never actually posted the fic itself

Thanks. It took me so long to write this, and then the fanzine I wrote it for never happened, and it sat languishing on my hard drive. I do love the idea of Dean thinking of Sam the whole time they were apart. And Sam not realising.

Thank you. I like the quietness of the story, of Sam finding out how Dean was thinking of him while he was away.

Thanks. I did worry about the AU ending, but it worked for the purposes of the story when I wrote it, so I couldn't bear to change it back to canon.

That was nice and angsty. Plus, it had Kerouac, Bobby and a puppy who isn't Sam in it. I'm happy now.

(I'm gonna nit -- just two words, because academic pride is at stake: Athens is the home of Ohio University. The Ohio State University -- and the "The" is in it because we're anal -- is up north, in Columbus. The OU twits have a green bobcat for a mascot. Mind you, OSU's symbol is a bloomin' horse chestnut...)

Well, then Ohio boy Kripke don't know his Ohio universities. However, IIRC he is from Toledo, so that explains a lot -- they have HUMONGOUS, mutant vampire mosquitoes in that area. However, SHAME on the show's note writers. ;)

I was considering a replica of the neon cowboy outside The Nugget in Vegas, but then, after reading your story, I kind of like the idea of postcards -- one per night. Which is kind of cheap since he just gave me Life on Mars for the holiday.
