The holidays are slipping away quicker than I hoped. I've been spending time with the girlies, and doing some spring-cleaning in the bedrooms. I've been working on my Asylum fic, and a shorter piece for 50scenesIt's mostly me trying to get into John's headspace early in his hunting life, prompted by Dean's revelation in 'No Exit' that John took him ( Read more... )

Aw, man. So sad.

Didn't you used to have a fic somewhere about three different povs of John hitting Dean instead of Sam?

Excellent job: excellent voice.

Nothing more to say, other than enjoyed it.

Thanks. I'm still poking the other fic - haven't got to the John stuff just yet. But work permitting I might be able to get some more done on this.

I can't wait. Tell RL to take a back seat for a while.

I am always so excited to see a new fic from you! You write the boys in such a believable and descriptive way and I just love it.

This was really great. The desperation in both John and Dean is so evident. Dean just wanting to connect with his dad. John wanting to reach out to his boy, but unsure how to do that. And both of them grabbing onto hunting as maybe the answer to all that.

Beautiful fic, thanks so much for sharing.

Thank you! I love the idea that John doesn't know how to connect with Dean. He's lost so much, and he realises Dean has to, and doesn't know how to make up for that. So he does indeed grab onto hunting as something they can share again.

Oh, wow. This is such a thoughtful, powerful study of Dean's development and also a really considerate and thoughtful view of *John*, which is rare, in my experience. The nuances here, both of Dean's body language and John's internal struggle, are beautifully rendered, light, not heavy-handed. This is extraordinarily touching. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks. I'm very fond of John, but he's often portrayed in fics either as a total hero, or a complete bastard. He's both, and neither, in my mind. He's flawed, he makes terrible mistakes, he loves his boys desperately and wants to do the right thing. He doesn't always manage it.
