So, I've been trying desperately to work on my Asylum con fic - I have an idea, but I'm so exhausted with RL work I can barely string a coherent sentence together. And then the muse decided she wanted some Dean h/c. John POV. With added angst

Thanks! I wavered on posting about changing the tense, and then changed it back and hit the m instead of n. Ah, nothing like posting fic at 2 am. *grins sheepishly*

Oh, this was gorgeous and heart-wrenching and just so perfectly Dean and John to my mind. Dean needing his father but trying so fiercely to remain stoic and John needing Dean to be stoic because the alternative is just too horrifying and heartbreaking.

I love that fire provides such inspiration for stories like this. That Dean wants/needs a shower so badly shows us just how closely John's memories of those days after their lives changed parallel Dean's.

I know how frustrating it is to have an uncooperative muse and I definitely sympathize. Still, I'm delighted it/he/she led you down this brief and beautiful path. I hope this prompts cooperation and your Asylum con story starts flowing. In the mean time though, I'm mem'ing this story ;).

Thanks. I'm always aware when I'm writing John that there's going to be much more going on his head than what he says or does. I think John was aware of how much his opinion counted with Dean, and while ashamed of that, he did indeed need Dean to be stoic and strong.

Thanks for your support re the Asylum fic muse. I'm just going to have to make myself write the story, because I'm not going to wimp out on the ficathon. *steels self*
