I always knew Dean was smart!

Interesting the way this illustrates the difference between Sam and Dean, that Sam defied his father and went to college, while Dean never mentioned the possibility of leaving.

Thanks. I think ever since the Shapeshifter in Skin mentioned that Dean had his own hopes and dreams, I've had this idea that Dean thought about a running scholarship to Cal Tech. I've mentioned it in a few of my fics, and I keep it in mind when I'm writing Teen Dean stories.

I love the love here. Your John, Sam and Dean are so Winchester-like and true to form. Despite the fact that John gives Dean the Impala to help keep him home, I don't think it would really make a difference. You said it yourself.

"He’s happy doing this: training, hunting, watching out for Sammy. Doing his job. He never complains, never bitches."

That is Dean, so really the Impala is just the icing on the cake. Yeah, John can be a manipulative bastard but he loves Dean and knows what is important to his boy.

Thank you! John clearly loves his boys, and he's just horribly self-aware in this fic. He's manipulating Dean by giving him something so precious, even though I think John knows that Dean won't ever leave them.

I love how you weave the story around the bits and pieces we know about the boys and John and how things all fall into place at the end.

Dean will never leave his family without their home.
