why don't you just lock your entries to "private" when you want to do "reflecting"? that way, if you ever do decide to "reflect" you can simply look for the entries that have the little eye next to it. the lock means that people on your friends' list can see the post. always.

Thanks for the tips, but I already knew all of those options. This is about getting away, changing, trying a new tack, etc.

I agree. Unfortunately I think LJ can sometimes bring out the "performative" side of people, to put it politely, so much so that it turns into a show of who can be more contrary. If that's your only M.O., who needs it? Sometimes it's best to just sit back and listen.

Best of luck, Bucket.

True, as long as I'm going about it the right way. Only time shall tell, I guess.

Hey, I always make these sort of resolutions for myself, but never stick to them. But I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes when I tell Larry about all the ridiculous LJ drama, he can't understand why I participate in it. It's nice to be computer-illiterate like him, I think. LJ takes adolescent-like conflict, clique-ish-ness, etc. to a whole new level!

I think it's a PERFECT ideal. Good work!
