Being a tutor isn't as cushy as I thought it would be.  Amongst other things, I need to learn how to stop the really talkative students from dominating and taking over the whole time, and how to draw out the really quiet ones from hiding under the radar.  The majority of students do their prep before coming to class, which is a nice surprise.  Most ( Read more... )

Yeah--it can really be a balancing act. I've found insisting on going around in cycles (around the room one by one) is the best way to keep people from talking out of turn...

That's a good way of making sure everybody gets some time. I am finding I need to do more insisting than I originally expected to have to do. It's all part of learning, I suppose. ^^
