Am I the only one who sees a crazy level of hypocrisy when a vegan smokes?

Haha! You aren't the only one confused and confounded. You should ask them why they like cancer sticks.

Except I like the rest of the group that she's a part of. So I'd rather not alienate them all. But yes, I shall remain confused and confounded. And a bit peeved that we're supposed to cater to her desires when we get make group dinners, but she has no consideration for the fact that smoking is nasty and some of us might not like being forced to endure the second hand effects.

On the plus side, however, apparently the city is banning smoking in public places in January! Yay!

Could you mention it to another member of the group, and see if they agree? Or maybe just tell the vegan that you have a real problem with smoke, and it's nothing against her, but second-hand smoke can make you ill, and you still want to enjoy her company. You just don't want to be ill. :)

Plus, she might not be aware of how strong the smell actually is at this point, depending on how long she's been smoking. Most smokers don't seem to be aware of how overpowering it is.

Well, some of them actually do it for animals' rights, in which case it's not hypocrisy. But if it's for health purposes? Oy.

No, it's still hypocritical.

"I shall protect all the poor little animals, but I have no problem smoking nasty illness-inducing cancer sticks and then blowing the smoke all over Bethy and getting her sick."

See? Still hypocritical. Why protect the animals but not the Bethys? I'm worth more than a cow!

Maybe they disagree. Maybe the vegan smokers are just animal lovers and people haters. You should ask the next one you see. Solve this mystery for all of us. -Danielle

But aren't those the people who say that people are really nothing more than animals? So by that logic, they should care about *all* animals, not just the commonly eaten ones. O:-)
