In the novelization of The Phantom Menace, Anakin announced to Padme that he was going to marry her one day.  You could kind of see that attitude in the movies.

Now, I never quite understood why she married him, because he was too young, too rash, too uncultured, and too obsessive. (No, I didn't really like Anakin in the movies.  How can you tell?
