That is so well done--thank you for your clarity. Especially this line, I know from experience that these kinds of ideas are insidious, can sneak in invisibly from the culture around us, and are horrifically harmful to those on the receiving end (often, in aggregate, more harmful than the rare acts of actual racist or other-ist violence).

These are the signals that we should be examining our own assumptions instead of leaping to defend them.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that she deleted the comments, but I am.

Yeah. Shweta was all like "if you're commenting, save a copy! You need to save a copy just in case!" and I was like "uh, okay...". But she was totally right.
