So, the author Elizabeth Moon wrote this blog post which has garnered a predictable and wholly justified resp onseI really don't have anything to say that can compare to the reactions in those links, nor do I have nearly the historical acumen of some of the other people commenting on her post. That is so well done--thank you for your clarity. Especially this line, I know from experience that these kinds of ideas are insidious, can sneak in invisibly from the culture around us, and are horrifically harmful to those on the receiving end (often, in aggregate, more harmful than the rare acts of actual racist or other-ist violence).

These are the signals that we should be examining our own assumptions instead of leaping to defend them.

Yeah. Shweta was all like "if you're commenting, save a copy! You need to save a copy just in case!" and I was like "uh, okay...". But she was totally right.

I've seen it said that some of them were available in the Google cache, but I don't know how many, or if that's still true.
