Hamlet: A review of sorts

So I just got back last night from seeing Hamlet in Stratford, and it was fantastic! The acting was brilliant and the staging was wonderful and clever and overall I was very impressed. The Courtyard Theatre is relatively small but this means all seats offer very good views and even though I was in the Gallery, I don't feel that I missed out at all ( Read more... )

Glad to hear that you enjoyed Hamlet :-) I saw an open air production of it a number of years ago in Portchester Castle, Portsmouth (presumably haunted), and was quite surprised by how balanced the comedic and dramatic moments were.

It's true that Shakespeare is more enjoyable on the stage than in prose, especially considering the cast of this production.

I've been perusing the catalogue of what else is on this summer and I'm really tempted to see Romeo and Juliet, Love's Labours Lost and The Taming of the Shrew - if only I had the time! The tickets are cheap enough. Tennant is in LLL as well.
