Two Years in the Making...
It has been (almost) two years since my last posting. Why? Job, Bicycles, Coffee Beans, Life, Love.
The job part has been the big issue... not being able to access LJ at work seriously cuts into one's ability to keep up on it. At least MY ability to keep up on it.

I've always had this notion that I talk when I get nervous and should shut up. I tend to ramble on during job interviews, while in the back of my head I've got that voice telling me to pipe down and let the interviewer talk. Detroit Adventure Youth and Alternatives For Girls had a very successful camping trip this weekend with a group of 10 girls ages 11 to 14.

80% uneducated?
As I get ready to go introduce a group of middle schoolers to the woods, I just heard some astounding figures on the NPR program "News & Notes". The graduation rate for Detroit Public Schools is the worst of the major cities in the US at 21.7%. Baltimore came in second, followed by Houston (though I can't remember what they said their percentages ( Read more... ) -

I just purchased the Raconteurs debut CD, "Broken Toy Soldiers" and have given it a few listens. I am not a connoisseur of music reviews, so I knew very little about the CD prior to purchase. Fixing Michigan Transit ... one bike law at a time.
The Michigan senate today received SB 1224 - a bill that clarifies/fixes some of the rules regarding bicycles on the roads. The laws for bicyclists are... um... well... here's a few examples for you... Did you know?
