Hey... I follow you usually because of Yuki's blog translations but this just caught my attention, especially since homosexuality is currently being very much discussed in my country (some violence on pride's and stuff that happened) so I read this... This guy is awful -.-' The problem is that masses don't go to your extent and don't even look up people they're electing... They trust everything that's being broadcasted on TV and I don't even know what to say about it :( And I couldn't agree with you more on everything you said... It's not the homosexuality that is the problem, it's homophobia and mainly it's like that with every topic that is marked as "problem". Problem are people who butt their noses in other people's business/privacy.

p.s.1. sorry for mistakes in writing my English is not the best...

p.s.2. I know you have no idea who I am but I still felt the need to comment on this...

You're absolutely right. Most people DON'T look up canidadates. Very few Americans actually vote, and of those, many people either vote "straight ticket" or vote based on name recognition. Straight ticket voting is voting for every candidate of a political party, regardless of their personal qualifications or views. Basically, it would be a person who calls him or herself a democrat voting for every Democrat on the ticket just because they are Democrats. Straight ticket voting is, in my opinion, quite silly, but it happens all the time.

And yeah, people just need to learn to calm down and mind their own business.

And don't worry about me not knowing you. As long as people are civil to each other, they are always welcome to discuss and comment here. Plus, I like meeting new people that share my interests.

Well yeah. In my country there is also problem that you don't vote for person but for party and then party (after being elected) chooses the person that will represent them. And then... well, our last prime minister is currently in jail because he was corrupted and was stealing money... but the people will still vote for his party because our first president was from that party... and then they'll whine how bad our lives are... and do nothing. But hey, when it's pride, then 10000 people will come and throw stones at pride... Because it's pride that is shame for this country -.-' (stupidity on level -.-')

And thanks for welcome ^_^

I can't imagine how hard it must be to break out of that sort of system. At least here people can run as independents and at least have a tiny chance. Granted, America's voting behavior as a whole tends to block the election of independents, but they can at least be on the ballot.
