My sister Pat Hovey is one of the founders of the North Shore People of Conscience (North Fork of Long Island). Their main project is to take pictures of soldiers who have died in Iraq and mount them onto presentation panels, which they display all around. Each photo is accompanied by as much information about that person as they can possibly find - their families, their likes an dislikes, talents, special interests. Because they want people to be reminded that these were PEOPLE, with families and hopes and dreams, not just 'troop numbers' on the evening news.
