traveling alone how? Like to a city you've never been to and don't know anyone, somewhere non-English speaking, or meeting a friend?

nope, traveling within the US, to a place I've been once, and know, oh, two people. (basically, there's a bargain flight to SF for my february vacation and i have a couple friends who might be interested, but no one willing to commit yet, but I really want to go.)

Find a hostel just in case your friends aren't interested/can't. They're cheap, friendly, and usually have lots of info on local events (not to mention the possibility of meeting someone there with whom to go do things).

yeah, i've already been looking at hostels, and they are pretty cheap, and they run day trips out to yosemite and such that i might be interested in. they are pretty damn cheap, and look pretty nice. i'm also looking at the Y b/c since i just joined here, i think i might be able to get a discount out there.

There are three of us coming up - J, JM and me. The girl was like, "well, I was planning on having J share my bed, and I've been having problems with my roommate, so even though she's out of town, I can't offer her room. JM, I was going to put you on a air mattress in the living room and well, it just doesn't make much sense to have another air mattres in the living room, so I just don't know where she could stay."

Something like that. It was really obnoxious. It was basically like, she could come but it would be a huge pain in my ass. Blech. Forget her.

well, you can certainly stay with me. like i said, you have your choice of couch (which you are too tall for), floor, or my bed (which is 6 feet in the air).

do you know what time you might be getting in on friday?
