Such has been on my mind

These things have been on my mind, and I wanted to write about them but could not find the words all at once and the will to commit them to this journal at the same time. But here it is, and I will try ( Read more... )

If it was easy it ewould be called WOW. osgkar January 13 2009, 12:42:23 UTC
I know that you are aware that it isn't easy.
However you may not be aware of is that the stuff that is hard is the very stuff you need most. the harded it is the more you should do it. Get an electronic teaching chess game, either for your pc or a hand held one. what is important is that you work on it every day, you will improve and the more you do it the more intuitive it will become. Chess may never be easy for you but you can do it I am certain. Your tourney skills are very similar you should fight tourney as much as you can don't stress it just do it. You are on the path it will not get shorter for waiting. I know.

You are on the right path. As you said, just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

I will bring my chessboard to coffee on Sunday. We will enjoy coffee, relax, talk Chivalry, speak about poetry, and you will forget we're playing until it's over.

Perhaps that will help give you a more positive experience playing chess.

Like fighting, it isn't so much win or lose as it is enjoying the experience and bringing your best. We all have wins and losses in every aspect of life. The main point is to not let them get us down or into negative spirals when the bad stuff happens. If you do your best, whatever that is, you should take joy that you did the best you can at the moment and trust that next time, having gained experience, you'll do even better.

See you soon, chessboard in hand.

Glad you're feeling better!

Are you going to fight at Ursalmas? Look for me on the field.

Next Sunday that I'll be up in Blatha will probably be the 8th or 15th. Let's touch base when it gets closer to see about doing Coffee and Chess as well.

Much joy.

Most eloquently expressed and such a lesson for me. Thank you, my friend. You embody all the good reasons for fighting and as such are a beacon in the fog of my own journey. Thanks!

Oh...and by the way? I suck at chess so if you ever feel the need to kick the crap out of someone on the chessfield...let me know.

Kinda like most things. Sometimes a new way of looking at the problem can help. Sometimes I get (bored/frustrated/know I am going to lose) with long range planning in chess, and swap over to points. Playing for points can help trn around a game, even mid game.
