Poll In short: at work we have a kitchen that serves all kinds of hot food and meals. My mother-in-law (who is also a member of the Management Committee) works there as a volunteer on a Tuesday night cooking. She is not a professional cook, even though I insisted that she - like all the other staff including myself - took a Food Hygiene exam which is ( Read more... )

Well, I agree with Anna and believe you did the right thing. AS usual. ;)
Seriously, people just need to learn that even if they're the boss doesn't mean they're always right.
Besides, being rude to other employees she deserved to be yelled at.
Good for you for sticking up for Anna!!

Thank you darling, *hugs*! I feel strangely calm because I know I'm in the right. The internal dialogue has shut up and I'm all pointing in one direction, which is nice, and everyone else I've spoken to about this is on my side, which is REALLY nice. I feel like I'm going into battle with Aslan on my side and the Snow Queen doesn't stand a chance!

(To risk mixing metaphors) "One more unto the breach, dear friends!"

Or rather, "Bring it on, BITCH!"

Yes! Reason and logic MUST win - we cannot let these over-emotional bitchy bints win out over truth and the pursuit of justice! (Or something. I'm getting terribly carried away here ;))

Rules are rules and one has to stick to rules. If things have been done the right way you wouldn't have failed the Environmental Health inspection. Maybe your mother-in-law feels threatened by Anna and that's why she reacts that way.

*hugs*

Well, exactly. What a stupid cow. Perhaps she will care to explain to the health inspectors when they visit that she is exempt from the law because its her kitchen.

I doubt you'll get sacked, because she knows you're right.

*squish*

( a visit from a pointy-stick-wielding minion could shut her right up;) )

As an ex-restaurant worker and professional caterer, I get sick when I see people not following the basics of kitchen hygiene, and then whine that "it's the way I've always done it, and no one's gotten sick." You're trying to run a professional kitchen - you won't get fired;).
