busy day!

Jan 27, 2007 00:52

Got up this morning, kathrynt and the wee girlie came to fetch me and the little lad, and we headed off to shop at Madrona Fiber Arts Retreat. I'd have loved to take some of the classes, but it just wasn't going to happen this year what with the babies and all.

So! ( the haul )

cutepip, knitting, friends

So was it worth going? Are there a lot of local producers? Are there good deals? I'm always on the look out for unusual stuff but I have a huge enough stash that it has to be something special for me to buy it. I was going to go down on Thursday since our stuff from the UK was suppose to clear Customs (which it has not). If it is worth going, I might drive down tomorrow.

Hm. Things you're not likely to find outside of this or some other festival:

Toots LeBlanc has some lovely blends in natural colors. If angora did not make me sneezy, I'd have bought some (and they did have multiple colors). Some people I've seen at a bunch of local things but I can't remember who they actually are had some *amazingly* springy yarns at $20 for a really good-sized hank. Blue Moon has quite a bit more than is on their website, though it's not particularly cheap. There's a full list of vendors here. I could easily have spent quite a bit more than I did, and that's with entirely skipping the booths from the LYSes that I can go to whenever. After going last year, we were really excited to go again this time, and there was even more stuff in a bigger space, so I think it's worth a visit.

(and if you want to have a WTF moment, click on the link for "pluckings." I don't want to link the site directly because I don't want a snotty remark to show up in her referrer logs, but MY EYES!)
