So, I had his parent-teacher conference today. They have a non-traditional report card system, measuring various skills and behaviors on a couple of different scales. He scored at grade level in two areas: math and music. Significantly below grade level in PE. Yeah, he's our kid. He was in between on most other things ( Read more... )

Really the main downside in his life now is that he still gets *really* distressed when William is noisy. And he's got itchy dry skin. The second is being helped by Dream Cream from Lush, sadly the first is just going to take more time.

That's really awesome that Pip is doing so well. Yay!

I have a really good routine to keep kids' skin soft since Magnus has eczema. We use Cetaphil as a soap in the bath, although Johnson's & Johnson's Head to Toe Body Wash uses similar ingredients and then we lube him with Eucerin immediately after the bath. Any itchy parts are treated with Hydrocortisone (although I try to avoid using it long-term). If his skin is really bad, I'll pour a cup of oatmeal in his bath. Are you using Dream Cream from Lush to avoid Laureate Sulfate? It depends on the person if it effect them or not. Luckily, Magnus' eczema isn't really affected by it.

I'm mostly using it because we had some in the house the first time he got all dry and itchy (he gets a little eczema now and then) and it seemed to help quite quickly, so I figured if it worked, I'd stick with it. It's mostly a matter of "oops, it's that time of year, gotta start the routine" because he doesn't really need it in the summer, so I forget until he's scratching. Bad mom.

He also haaaaates hair washing and his scalp gets really itchy, and a couple of kids in his class had lice, so when he scratches they go ZOMG and send him to the nurse, who says "nope, just itchy scalp" so now we get to try washing with some dandruff shampoo. I did find a super-conditioning thing that helped a lot, but we could only half wash it out before he lost it, so he looked like the Brylcream King for a couple of days. But not itchy!

YAY loves school!

Too bad you're not Japanese native speakers, then the no-spaces thing would be CORRECT! ^_^
