I also figured out that "with this knowledge you can make any sweater you want!" seems to actually mean "with this knowledge you can make any sweater you want, as long as it's a raglan or one of these three rather ugly drop-sleeved things I threw in at the end."

If she has problems doing button holes, (I did, so I totally sympathise) there are other methods of fsatening....but should someone with problems with button holes be writing a book about knitting?

Sounds like she wants to control the way that other people appreciate her WORK. I mean, the underlying theme of that was, "look at me! I've worked so hard on this!"
