This cracked me up - "It was like the only thing that could come between me and this job would be if this morning's candidate had been Jesus Christ himself.", as I pictured you and Jesus, eyeballing each other up as you passed in the waiting room. LOL!

Double yay for grant writing as a part of your position! That was my favorite part of all jobs I have had. Regardless of how much is done before, there is always crazy submission day when it's a race against the clock, things get submitted in the final minutes, and everyone working on it is high-fiving each other.
