Bobby is drawn from the X-men Movieverse, this means there are some age differences present for anyone coming from the comic books. He's 18, having left Xavier's Academy after the event's of X-2 and hitchhiking around for a while.
Follow the cuts for more than you ever needed to know.
As the movies only give us a glimpse of the interactions between the X-Kids, as well as Bobby's personality, I'm drawing on fanon to flesh out Bobby's history. The
Fundamental Difference of Experience series, by Kuria Dalmatia, explores Bobby's character and background more fully, as well as giving a look at what Mutant High might be like.
Yes it is slash. Yes I'm a slasher. I've also yet to hear a single person in FandomTropolis not go "Bobby! = Gay!".
Bobby's a nice kid, he doesn't swear a lot and he's accustomed to acting as the mediator/figurehead for a large group of young people with potentially destructive powers and hairtrigger nerves. He won't freak out at very many odd things. More often than not, he'll be one of the first people to step up in a crisis.
Emotionally however? Bobby has learnt to shut down. Loss of emotional control equals loss of Mutant Ability control which, in turn, equals Mutant Powers in Public. He can throw on a false mask and act the All-American kid in front of others and then go have a nervous break down elsewhere. His friendship group at the Mansion helped to draw him out to be the well-balanced young man we saw in X-2. Loss of that group, post X-2, due to mistrast for being John's partner, has made him a little more closed down and emotional.
He's kept the suit. You know, the black leather X-suit. So he has the makings of a hero (or as we call them targets Capes). It's also very likely he'll be lining up for "Street Cleaning" duty. Once he realises there's a need.
Bobby is capable of forming ice and manipulating it (Well, technically, he's capable of manipulating all forms of water molecule, but doesn't due to lots'n'lots'n'lots of self imposed limitations). He's still learning control over his abilities. Having been trained at Xavier's means he's no longer in danger of snap-freezing a room when he gets upset, but nerves, fear or strong emotion tends to cause him to lose control somewhat. This might lead to frosting things in his direct area, or a noticeable drop in the air temperature.
He's also recieved some minimal combat training, self defence and tactics. As an Omega level mutant, he was slated for the X-Team from the get go. He can fight, not exceedingly well, but he's not defenceless.
Of course, the Mun will be checking OOC before he does anything environment-affecting (see the
6th Commandment of Fandom). Minor things like a drop in temperature around him can be written off as bad heating, a sudden chill, a cool breeze or the fact that, currently, it's Winter in the 'Trop.
Bobby's last romantic relationship was with Rogue. I'm taking this as being part of his "All-American Kid" act. Rogue enters the picture and Bobby see's something he should be doing, this leads to confusion with his attraction to St. John and distances the pair whilst Bobby chases Li'l Miss Bodysuit.
Bobby in Fandom? Is gay. He even has more than a vague clue about it. He's also repressed like whoah and needs a good shaking Less of the repressed, more of the gay and proud of it. Bobby had a learning curve courtesy of Justin, combined with Bruce's good example and a budding friendship with Ben, Bobby's okay with the gay thing now.
Any volunteers?
