I'd like to know A) Why he picked the blue pen if there were other color options and B) What the other color options were.

black. Somehow it seemed like signatures should be done in blue...

There's a reason for that. Facsimilies and photocopies are generally not in colour. A signature in blue ink generally denotes an original signature (unless of course it was laser-printed using a colour printer).
