I want CLAMP to develop and finish the vampire twins' storyline 8( but yeah, I know right. I meant more of … seeing what they do with Tsubasa and then extrapolating.
Yeah. If nothing else, they are saying a lot about wishes. ps the hotel I'm at is charging me a small fortune for internet. I (and Subaru-kun) probably won't be online at all until later this week. We're thinking of introing Thursday, if I don't die after the drive home.
Exactly. Wishes and choices and that's…what X was about. I want to know where they're going with this and I want to see if I can use it |Db
IT IS NO PROBLEM except that I'm flying to Seattle for Sakuracon+CFUD meetup for the weekend and I leave on Thursday. …I'll be online spottily since there's no way you put a bunch of CFUDers together and NOT get online, but…yeah. spotty. IF YOU GUYS DON'T MIND I may tag in late. Once Monday rolls around though, I am back to a more "whatever, whenever" sort of schedule ♥ it is you and Subaru's choice entirely. HAVE FUN~
S-so many Syaorans...it's starting to get ridiculous. Just a little. Yeah, but that's off topic.
ANYWAY yes, this whole idea is very X and I hope it gives some clue as to what Kamui's true wish might be (worst cliffhanger ever). I'm also wondering if it's just CLAMP recycling ideas as they love to do-- "wishes" seem like a common theme in almost everything that they write. Just like gouged out eyes and dark/light relationships, etc. Oh CLAMP.
I'm a CLAMP fan and came to their work through Tsubasa/Holic, then read Tokyo Babylon and X and very much agree with your assertion that we may be seeing ideas play out here that had originally been intended for the ending of X. We know from stuff said in interviews that the world situation in 2003 was a big factor in X getting terminated, since the terrorism overtones really did not sit well at that point.
Tsubasa and Holic started publication almost immediately afterwards. A lot of similar themes about self-knowledge and agape versus eros have been present in both series all along, and both have been getting progressively more and more apocalyptic and existential. But they haven't ever provoked the kind of controversy that X did back in the day, because both series are a lot less ripped-from-the-headlines in tone and style.
To me, it seems a lot like CLAMP decided to take the ideas from X and retool them for a more socially acceptable vehicle (because there's an extra veneer of
