Going it alone? Gay Marriage post.

Jul 15, 2006 22:48

So I'm sick of the traditionalists in this country and their anti-gay rhetoric. I've just about had enough of these right-wing idiots starting conversations about it in the name of an argument which they fail to prove ( Read more... )

oh honey, while i didn't read all that i feel you on many of your points! now while i am a Republican, i am a liberal republican and i believe that people deserve rights. marriage=love to me. you can help who you love and that is that. biblethumpers kill me and it embarasses me sometimes. but many democrats are hypocrites when it comes to how they feel. everyone is discriminatory(s/p) in some way or another whether they mean it or not. as a bi-racial female living in a small southern town in Kentucky, i have my fair share of discrimination. just had to deal with it this past weekend actually! i hope my kids and grandkids and so forth can grow up in a world where lifes differences are tolerated. and while i am a Bush supporter, i do hope we can get equal rights for gays in America.

ok, now i'm writing a book so i'm not gonna get started on the illegal alien issue but lets just say the republican in me comes out on the issue.

Thanks so much for skimming over my rant! I'm glad we agree on some points and issues. I'm a moderate republican as well, which is why this post was so important for me to get out all my disgust with the hard far-righters of my party. I think that the far righters should start to assess the damage they are doing to the relevancy of the party by pretending that the more liberal sectors of the party do not exist. It is nice to find someone whos a tad bit liberal and a republican. Thanks for your comments again! I really appreciate them.

I found your journal while I was bored. I saw your post and couldn't help but comment. All that writing and thought deserved a comment.

As a moderate and faithful Christian I always love reading commentary regarding politics and gay rights. It such a tough subject to really discuss with people because some are so unwilling to listen. I really like your arguments, they are very articulate and filled with passion. That is something we need more of. It upsets me when I see other Christians who seek to teach others of Christ's love but show hate towards others. They are not helping anyone. The world needs more people like you who are going to stand up and have a valid point without bringing down other people. That is truly something to be proud of.

Hope that wasn't to weird. I just thought you deserved a comment for that message and work. Thanks for putting it out their to read!

Thanks for your comments. No, it wasn't weird at all. I'm glad you read and decided to leave me a comment. It seems that noone comments much anymore, and so yours was quite refreshing.
And yes, it is really hard to find people who are adamant and striving to listen to the arguments and the other sides of those arguments. I think it's wrong to target any one group and say they're evil or wrong or what have you.
But at the end of the day we are all just human, and we must realize that. Everyone just wants to grow old with someone, and everyone deserves that chance.
I'm thankful for your comment, and I look foward to reading your lj in the future.
-Josh.
