Thanks for the advice, Gloria. I am looking forward to reuniting with some old friends. I just find it a bit daunting that most people seem to use their real names and all sorts of info is "out there." I guess I'll get used to it.

I've reconected with so many people I had lost contact with, although I do agree with not being in contact with current students. I set everything on mine up as friends only, when someone wants to friend you, facebook sends you a message and if you decline then they can't see any of your personal stuff. I agree that the games are time suckers so I don't play them. If you decide to join, I am Lynne Redmon if you want to friend me. If you are planning to try to find old friends it may be a good idea to use your first, maiden and last names.

Thanks for the tips, Lynne. I'm happy to hear about the "friends only" setting. I will definitely look for you.

I like facebook. It requires much less time and thought that livejournal. While I yearn for the old days of lively conversation (like usenet,) I've found that livejournal no longer meets that need and facebook is a less-effort alternative. It's also easier to catch up with people w a y back in my past. :)

That being said you do have to be careful about privacy on facebook. There are any number of tools to help, and I advise taking advantage of them.

Hope to see you there!
